How I Started

Hello. My name is Cynthia and I want to tell you a little bit about myself.
I am a stay at home Mom soon the become an empty nester. Well, not that soon really but now that my daughters are teenagers they are busy on their own and I find I have more time to spend doing other things.
So what kind of other things have I been doing? Well crafty things, of course. What better thing is there to do than crafting? I have tried my hand at many different types of crafts from paper crafting to lamp working but my favorite is needle crafts: sewing, embroidery, crochet, knitting...
In order to indulge my love of sewing I opened up a shop selling clothing for children. The clothing I make reflects my passion for upcycling. From patchwork quilts to quirky recycled art pieces I have always been fascinated by the creative reuse of materials. My clothing is made from "rescued" and vintage fabrics. I scour rummage sales, garage sales, thrift shops and sometimes even my own closet to find the fabrics I use. I believe the things we wear should be meaningful and reflect our own style. My one of a kind designs give a new life to the old and a distinctive quality to the new items I have created. Each piece is individually made, often with hand sewn details making it as unique as the child who wears it.
I also opened up a second shop where I sell some sewing and vintage items that I intended to use but have realized I most probably never will.
So, when I originally started this website my intention was just to promote my shops. As often happens though one thing leads to another so now in addition to a page for each shop, there is more. There is the Blog where I can share some stories about myself and my family and showcase some of my past arty endeavors. There is the DIY page where I can share some tutorials for things I like to make. There is the Dressed for Fun Gallery where I put pictures people send me of kids wearing the clothing I created.
So, I hope you enjoy your visit and will come back again soon.
Have a fun day!
