work that you do to your house to make it better
Over this past summer, we had new windows put on our porch. Our house is over a 100 years old and the windows on the porch were added at some point, as was the porch itself. They were nailed on so you could not open them. In the summer it was hot out there. Since there were also a lot of drafts, in the winter it was cold. All in all, it was not that useful and sort of turned into a storage area. Not so wonderful for the front entrance to your house.
Now, with the new windows and also a new front door, the room is much more comfortable temperature wise. With a small heater you can even use it when it's not super cold.
When the construction was finished I wanted to paint the room. New look and all. Summer was to hot and humid and we were busy doing outside things. Fall was to busy doing school, street fair and outside things. I really wanted to get it done this year. Even though the room is warmer, if it got super cold we would not be able to paint. So, with this warm stretch of weather we were having I convinced my husband to take a few days off so we could get it done. We did it!
Since the room is not that big we only bought 1 gallon of paint. My husband does the rolling and I go around and do the edges with a brush. Since we only had to one big bucket of paint I really did not want to have to go up and down a ladder with an almost full gallon of paint - accident waiting to happen. What to do?
I had a small empty laundry soap container. I cut out the section opposite the handle, leaving a section of the bottom as a well for the paint. It was much easier to carry up and down the ladder because of the big handle. You could even stand the brush up in it.
Have a fun day!
