So you know what that means, no excuse not to start spring cleaning. Ugh!

"The first day of spring is one thing, and the first spring day is another. The difference between them is sometimes as great as a month." Henry Van Dyke As a gardener, I am frustrated and this is whY: I had hoped by now to be well underway with my gardening chores, but sadly that is not the case. Yesterday we woke up to another round of snow. The 1-3 inches predicted turned out to be more like 6. Luckily, my youngest is on spring break so there was no danger of another snow day. They already took away one day from the spring break. While the snow didn't last even overnight, now comes the April rains, so still no gardening.

Cynthia Well my relief in waking up to no snow was short lived. It continued to snow all day with wet heavy snow! It even collapsed my front trellis. Luckily, school is closed so I don't really have to go anywhere. Gives me all day to shovel. Yay!
Have a fun day! Cynthia Snow Day noun NORTH AMERICAN "a day on which a school or other institution is closed due to heavy snowfall or other extreme winter weather." Google All this week, the weather stations have been predicting another snow storm. The snow totals for our area were to be 8 to 12 inches. The schools even sent out cancellation notices last night. This was not good news to me! Last week, my husband had an accident on his bike. He broke a bone in his hand, which is definitely putting a damper on his enjoyment of retirement. Luckily, it is not to serious and he should be better in a month or so. However, he is not really able to do to much with the hand and definitely no snow shoveling. The prospect of dealing with 8 - 12 inches of snow and of attempting to use the snow blower, which I am secretly afraid of, was daunting. Imagine my relief when I woke up to this: ![]() Basically, no snow. While it is still snowing, it does not seem to be sticking. Even if I have to shovel a little, at least I won't have to attempt the snow blower!
Have a fun day! Cynthia "I don't wanna say goodbye for the summer Knowing the love we'll miss Oh, Let us make a pledge to meet in September And seal it with a kiss" Brian Hyland My husband and I have undertaken a massive DIY project which I hope to reveal upon its completion. It will most likely take the whole summer, so I have decided to take a little break from all (almost) things internet for the summer.
Have a fun summer! Cynthia "Some folks like to get away Take a holiday from the neighborhood Hop a flight to Miami Beach Or to Hollywood But I'm taking a Greyhound On the Hudson River Line I'm in a New York state of mind." Billy Joel So recently, although it seems like a long time ago already, I went on my girl's weekend to New York city. I went in on Friday afternoon, but the weather was cold and rainy and the traffic getting in was worse than usual. I met my friend Janet at the hotel but we weren't up for doing to much so just went out to dinner at a nearby Indian restaurant. The next day, while the rain had stopped, it was still chilly but we had a destination that reminded us that it was indeed spring: the Macy's Flower Show! I had never been, and being a gardener and lover of flowers I was excited to go. I have to say, I was not disappointed! The flowers and displays were so beautiful. There was a "Scent Event" which was a display about perfume and you could smell all the different elements used in making perfumes. After that, we decided to walk downtown toward our dinner destination, but of course we had to do some shopping on the way. A stop at Fishs Eddy revealed some interesting cat themed items. Although I did not buy any of them, believe me, that "Crafting with Cat Hair" book was tempting! So for our dinner destination, we went to a place called The Daily and had the Impossible Burger which is a burger made from vegetables that is supposed to look and taste like beef. It was pretty good and definitely the closest to tasting like beef of sny veggie burger I have ever had. The next day, Sunday, we went to Mass at St. Patrick's which was nice and found a nice French restaurant in the neighborhood. Then we headed uptown to an interesting little museum in one of the few remaining 18th century buildings remaining in the city. Then, since we were in the neighborhood, we decided to take a tram ride over to Roosevelt Island. It was a beautiful day and the views were spectacular. I had not been there in many years and it was fun to walk around on the island. There is a park at one end with great views of Manhattan and Brooklyn. We did a lot and were both tired from all the walking. I was very happy that Janet's husband drove in to pick her up and gave me a ride to the Port Authority!
All in all, it was a very fun weekend. Have a fun day! Cynthia Absent adjective ˈabsənt/ 1. not present in a place, at an occasion, or as part of something. So, I have been reviewing my blog and will admit that it has become decidedly boring. Other than my usual Fortune Cookie Friday posts, I have not had a lot to say. That is because I have been simultaineously having to much fun and no fun at all.
The to much fun part is going on fun trips, doing fun things and the no fun part is being sick and spraining my ankle. I hope to detail some of the fun parts in future posts. Have a fun day!
